"Sex, drugs, and rock and roll?"- Daniel Jackson and Col. Jack O'Neill, Stargate
Stargate musings:
The last episode was good but a little disappointing for a series finale. I hope the upcoming movies wrap up some of the loose ends that were left. At least they didn't kill off any of the main characters. (I'm still not happy that Dr. Beckett got killed off Atlantis. On a positive note, I read that he may be back for several guest appearances next season. (I wonder if it will be like Daniel jackson in the sixth season of Stargate, since it was made to seem that Carson ascended when he was blown up and didn't just die.)
Atlantis' finale was great. I can't wait to see how they resolve that cliffhanger. (And the wait is only until September or October not February. I can handle that. Plus, the sci-fi channel will be showing Doctor Who during the hiatus. I'm looking forward to seeing the third season and the Doctor's new companion Martha. From what I've read in several British magazines the episodes sound really interesting.
Rants: Why don't programs like media convertors or players come with all the codecs you'll need to use them? It's kind of annoying to be in the middle of converting some video files and get a pop-up telling you that the codec you need isn't installed. You have to stop what you're doing and download a 17MB file and install it before you can continue. (thank goodness for DSL) I wouldn't mind a larger initial download if it had everything the user would need right with it.
Why do forums have such strict rules about links and such? (I'm taking about not being allowed to post links to polls on outside sites, other forums, etc) That seems excessively strict to me. I also wonder what the big deal is about posting a link to or mentioning an R rated fanfic?
You should at least be able to mention you wrote a new story even if you can't link to it.
